An atmospheric autumn wedding filled with rich seasonal colours, wonderful personal touches and a spectacular fire-dancing finale.

Julian and Steph chose All Saints The Old Chapel in Eastbourne for their wonderfully distinctive Halloween wedding. With its Gothic architecture, stained-glass windows and characterful interior, the chapel provided the perfect setting for a celebration filled with deep autumn colours, warm lighting and plenty of personality.

Their day brought together everything I enjoy about wedding photography: genuine emotion, relaxed moments, beautiful surroundings and a couple who made the celebration entirely their own.

A Gothic Wedding Venue in Eastbourne

All Saints The Old Chapel is one of Eastbourne’s most unusual wedding venues. Its high ceilings, ornate altar and beautiful stained glass create a dramatic backdrop, while the warm lighting and strings of fairy lights give the interior a welcoming and intimate atmosphere.

Julian waited inside the chapel as friends and family gathered for the ceremony. Steph’s arrival brought everyone’s attention towards the aisle, framed by the architecture and colourful stained glass behind them.

The ceremony included plenty of heartfelt moments, including a little help with the rings from one of their younger guests. These unscripted interactions are often among my favourite photographs because they capture the real character of the day.

A Halloween Wedding Full of Personality

Julian and Steph embraced the season without allowing the Halloween theme to overwhelm their wedding. Burgundy, orange and black details complemented the chapel beautifully, while pumpkins around its arched entrance added a playful autumn touch.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside for confetti. The chapel’s stone entrance made a striking backdrop as Julian and Steph emerged into a shower of colour, surrounded by their family and friends.

There was also time for relaxed portraits around the chapel. Rather than using stiff poses, I allowed Julian and Steph space to enjoy a few quiet moments together while making the most of the venue’s architecture, grounds and warm autumn light.

Celebrations Inside All Saints The Old Chapel

The chapel transformed naturally from ceremony setting into an atmospheric evening celebration. Julian and Steph cut their wedding cake surrounded by their guests before taking to the floor for their first dance beneath the fairy lights.

The historic interior looked particularly beautiful after dark, with the ornate altar and stained glass creating a dramatic background for their evening photographs.

Then came one of the most memorable moments of the day: a fire-dancing performance outside the chapel. Photographing Julian and Steph together with the fire performer behind them created a striking final set of images and a suitably spectacular conclusion to their Halloween wedding.
