Rye Town Hall Weddings – Photography at One of Sussex’s Most Historic Ceremony Venues

Historic Weddings at Rye Town Hall
Located in the heart of the medieval town of Rye, Rye Town Hall is one of the most characterful places to get married in East Sussex. With its historic architecture, charming cobbled streets and beautiful ceremony rooms, Rye Town Hall offers couples a truly memorable setting for an intimate wedding ceremony. As an East Sussex wedding photographer, I have photographed several weddings here and know exactly how to make the most of the natural light, historic interiors and surrounding streets of Rye.

A Perfect Venue for Intimate Weddings
Rye Town Hall is especially popular for smaller and intimate weddings. The ceremony rooms offer a warm and elegant atmosphere while the town itself provides some of the most picturesque backdrops in Sussex. After the ceremony, couples can step straight out into the cobbled lanes and historic streets around Mermaid Street, creating beautiful, relaxed portraits within minutes of leaving the ceremony.
For couples planning a smaller celebration or registry office ceremony, Rye Town Hall offers a wonderful balance between historic charm and relaxed intimacy.

Wedding Photography in the Heart of Rye
One of the biggest advantages of getting married at Rye Town Hall is the incredible variety of photography locations just moments away. From the famous cobbled streets and timber-framed buildings to hidden alleyways and views across the rooftops of this medieval town, Rye offers endless possibilities for natural and creative wedding photography.
Having photographed multiple weddings here, I know the best locations and timings to capture beautiful portraits while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable for couples.

Real Rye Town Hall Weddings
On this page you'll see four real weddings photographed at Rye Town Hall, each with its own unique atmosphere and style. These weddings show how versatile the venue can be — from smaller ceremonies followed by drinks in the town centre to celebrations that continue in nearby venues across East Sussex.
Each gallery features moments from the ceremony as well as relaxed portraits around the streets of Rye, capturing the genuine emotion and atmosphere of the day.
Rye Town Hall Wedding Photographer – Burst Photos
Based nearby in Bexhill-on-Sea, Burst Photos provides natural documentary wedding photography across East Sussex, including weddings in Rye, Hastings, Battle and the surrounding countryside.
My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing couples to enjoy their day while I capture the genuine moments that make each wedding unique. Rye Town Hall is one of my favourite venues to photograph thanks to its historic charm and the incredible backdrop the town itself provides.

Every wedding is slightly different, so coverage can be tailored depending on the structure of the day.

Couples choose Burst Photos because of the relaxed and natural approach to wedding photography.

With experience photographing weddings across Sussex, I aim to make the photography process feel easy and enjoyable from start to finish.
Do you photograph half day weddings at weekends?
Yes. Unlike many photographers who only offer full day coverage, I regularly photograph half day weddings across Sussex, including weekend celebrations.
How many hours does a half day wedding package include?
Most half day wedding packages include 6 hours of coverage, which is usually enough to capture the ceremony, confetti, portraits and part of the reception.
Do you travel across Sussex for half day weddings?
Yes. I photograph weddings throughout East Sussex and West Sussex including Bexhill, Hastings, Eastbourne, Lewes, Rye and Brighton.
Is half day coverage suitable for a small wedding?
Absolutely. Half day coverage is perfect for intimate weddings, registry office ceremonies and smaller celebrations where the focus is on the ceremony and time with family and friends.
Can we upgrade to full day coverage later?
Yes. If your plans change and you'd like more coverage, it’s usually possible to upgrade depending on availability.
